Rector

Our Rector is The Reverend Jeffrey B. MacKnight. You may contact him directly via email at jbmacknight@verizon.net

Jeff MacKnight grew up in the Episcopal Church and came to love its liturgy and music, as well as its spirit of inquiry and openness to all people. Raised in Nebraska, he pursued interests in music, especially singing and keyboard instruments. Fascinated with the discussion of important issues of life, such as our human purpose, our destiny, our responsibilities to create a just and merciful society, and the true source of authority of our lives, Jeff was drawn to the study of religion at Nebraska Wesleyan University and prepared for the Episcopal priesthood at the Virginia Theological Seminary in Alexandria, Virginia, where he came to love the Washington, D.C. area.

Ordained in l984, Jeff has served churches in Nebraska, New Jersey and Maryland. He and his wife, Leslie, and children, Maggie and Colin, came to St. Dunstan's in 1999.

"I believe Jesus when he said that he came so that our joy might be full. Church life is meant to be full of joy and laughter, full of the beauty of good music and full of the pleasure of good friends. Sharing the love of God in a world that really needs it is a wonderful vocation for me and for all Christians."

Jeff MacKnight, Rector
