Christian Formation

Adult Education Program

Jesus said, "I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life."

Please feel free to come to any of St. Dunstan's meetings, even if you just want to drop by to learn what they're about. Our meetings are open to all and we happily welcome new members. For additional information about our Adult Christian Formation activities, please call the church office or contact Jeff MacKnight, Rector, at 301-229-2960 or stdunstans@verizon.net .

Inquirers' Classes and Confirmation:
These are occasional classes are offered for all who are new to our church community, or interested in deepening your knowledge of the faith, or affirming your faith through Confirmation or Reception by our bishop.  Pleae contact Jeff MacKnight for more infomation and schedules.

Retreats: St. Dunstan's sponsors occasional offsite, overnight retreats for contemplation, spiritual refreshment, and growth, for women, men, and mixed groups.

Sunday Adult Forum: Parishioners meet to discuss topics of Christian interest ranging from the Bible to social issues to church history.  The forum meets most Sundays at 9:00 a.m. to 9:50 a.m.

Terrific Tuesday: In Winter 2010, our series runs Jan 12 through Feb 2.  We begin with a dinner (provided) at 6 p.m., followed by classes for adults and children beginning around 6:45 p.m. and ending at 8 p.m. Our church teaching theme this Fall is "Roots and Wings," and we are exploring our roots in church history, particularly the Protestant reformation.  How is it that our Episcopal Church can be both protestant and catholic?  All are welcome - come for one or all sessions.  Jeff MacKnight, leader.

Centering Prayer: Those who seek God through prayer and silent meditation are invited to experience "centering prayer." Centering prayer is a method of silent, contemplative prayer that prepares one to receive the gift of God's presence. It emphasizes prayer as a personal relationship with God and helps one to respond to the spirit of Christ by consenting to God's presence and action within.
