Diocesan Celebration of Absalom Jones
3:00 p.m. Sunday, February 7
This celebration will take place at Washington National Cathedral and will feature a diocesan-wide choir and our new Presiding Bishop, Michael Curry, as the preacher. The Eucharist celebrates Absalom Jones, who was the first African-American priest ordained in The Episcopal Church and whose feast is commemorated on our church's calendar on February 13. This event will be preceded by musicians workshops on Saturday morning by The Rev. Andy Barnet and the Theodicy Jazz Collective.
If you would like to sing in the diocesan-wide choir on this day, please speak with Michael as registration is being done through congregational choir directors. More detailed information about this event can be found on the diocesan website here.
Diocesan Leadership Day - Saturday, February 27
9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
This day will feature various workshops on many topics for those in leadership positions at the parish level. If you are on the vestry, serve as a committee chair or take on any parish wide ministry leadership, this day is for you. And the best news - this day will take place right on our own backyard at Washington Episcopal School! Jeff is encouraging all members of the vestry to attend, but anyone interested in being a better parish leader is encouraged to attend. If we register more than 8 people, we also receive a discount on the registration fees.
To register - please contact Kim. For more details about the workshops being offered on this day, please visit the diocesan website here.
