Today's Worship
Foolish Maidens
(Magdeburg Cathedral, Paradise Portal, c. 1245)
Dear parishioners and friends of St. Dunstan's,
Thank you to everyone who worshipped with us, either in person or online, this morning! If you were not able to participate in "real time" today, I am sharing the link to the recording on our YouTube channel. Simply click on the image above and you will be directed automatically to the service.
I hope that you will take a moment to scroll down and look over the calendar and other announcements that followand I hope you will find a way to connect with St. Dunstan's in the days ahead. In particular, please be sure to send us names this week for our annual Veterans' Day Remembrance, which will take place next Sunday, November 15. (See below for the link.) Next week we also celebrate Consecration Sunday, when we rededicate ourselves to Christ's service and give thanks for God's abundant blessings on this parish. If you have not yet made your pledge to St. Dunstan's for 2021, you can find information about how to do that in the box below.
As always, please do not hesitate to be in touch with me at any time for prayer, conversation, or other support.
Blessings and love on this glorious day,
Remembering Our Veterans
Next Sunday, November 15, we will honor our Veterans during our 10 a.m. service of Holy Eucharist (via Zoom and Facebook Live). If you or a loved one serves or has served in our nation's Armed Forces, we would be grateful if you would please share names to be included in the Prayers of the People that day via this form. Thank you!
Stewardship 2021: What Can Love Do?
As we plan next year's budget and begin to consider what ministries we will be able to undertake in 2021, we are hoping to have as many pledges as possible in hand by Consecration Sunday (next Sunday, November 15).
To make your pledge to this year's Stewardship Campaign, What Can Love Do?, online, just click on the campaign logo above to be taken to the digital form. Alternatively, you can download and print this pledge card and return it to the Parish Office (5450 Massachusetts Avenue, Bethesda, 20816)
We sincerely thank you for supporting Christ's mission and ministry at St. Dunstan's during this extraordinary time.
Pre-Order Your Advent Wreath Kit
Believe it or not, the beautiful, contemplative Season of Advent soon will be upon us!
Advent is the period of watching and waiting that the Church sets aside to prepare for the birth of Jesus. As part of that preparation, many Christians use Advent wreaths to help mark God's time and count down to Christmas. In the past St. Dunstan's has cherished the custom of gathering to make wreaths together.
While we can't do that in person this year, Patty will lead us in a parish- wide Advent Wreath Making social event via Zoom on Sunday, November 29, 2020 at 4:00 pm. You can pre-order your materials for this event by clicking this link: Advent Wreath Order Form. Wreath kits are $25 and will include: 1 straw wreath form, 4 candles, 4 candle holder stakes, ribbon, and greening pins.
Please send all check payments to the St. Dunstan's parish office (5450 Massachusetts Avenue, 20816), or contact Kimberly Matthews at 202.360.0520 to pay by credit card. All orders and payments are due by Friday, November 20, 2020. Kits will be distributed on Friday, November 27 and Saturday, November 28 or will be available for pick-up from the church on Friday, November 27 between 12 and 3 p.m.
Some Firewood Still Available
Hurry - the supply is dwindling!
If you would like to take home some hickory wood for your own use this winter, please drop by the church at your earliest convenience. There is still some left as of 1 p.m. on Sunday, but it might be gone soon.
The remaining wood is stacked against the brick wall by Patty's office.
Take as much as you need; we ask only for a donation via check to the church. Please be generous!
For Your Prayers
A Prayer for the Human Family:
O God, you made us in your own image and redeemed us
through Jesus your Son: Look with compassion on the whole
human family; take away the arrogance and hatred which
infect our hearts; break down the walls that separate us;
unite us in bonds of love; and work through our struggle and
confusion to accomplish your purposes on earth; that, in
your good time, all nations and races may serve you in
harmony around your heavenly throne; through Jesus Christ
our Lord, Amen.
