The Second Sunday
in Lent

This Morning's Worship

Dear parishioners and friends of St. Dunstan's:

Thank you to all who joined us for online worship this morning! If you were not able to participate in today's Zoom and Facebook service in "real time," I have included the link to the recording. Just click on the image above, and you will be redirected automatically to St. Dunstan's YouTube channel.

Special thanks, as well, to our Middler Seminarian, Fergie Horvath, for her powerful homily today. We are grateful to you, Fergie, for helping us to refocus our spiritual vision during this Lent.

I hope that you all will take a few minutes to read through the announcements that follow to find out what's going on at St. Dunstan's and in the larger community these days. While the pandemic makes it more challenging to stay connected with one another, we are trying to provide multiple ways to get (and remain) involved in the life of the parish. Please let me know if there are other things that you need but we are not providing - yet. Your Vestry and clergy are here to support your walk with Christ in whatever way we can.

I wish you a lovely day and a peaceful week ahead.

Love and blessings for the journey,

The Reverend Patricia Phaneuf Alexander, Rector

Everyone Can Sing!
Join Minister of Music
Joey Arkfeld Wednesday at 7 p.m. for Everyone Can Sing!

Together we'll explore the fundamentals of natural singing and how that can help you feel more comfortable singing hymns from behind the mute button on Sundays - or in the shower, or wherever else you feel like making a joyful noise these days!

This session will be short and easy, and a fun, productive way to spend some virtual time together. (And you can remain muted throughout the session...so it's safe and non-threatening, no matter what you might think of your singing voice.) All are welcome!

To join the class, please use this Zoom link (Meeting ID: 812 7015 3944).

Annual Meeting 2021
Please mark your calendar for the Annual Meeting of the Parish, which will take place via Zoom on Sunday, March 14, immediately following worship.

For those who have never attended an Annual Meeting before, it is an important moment in our congregational life in which we hear brief reports from the Rector and various parish ministries and ratify the parish budget. In addition, we celebrate and give thanks for the many contributions of those members of the Vestry who are completing their terms, and we elect new Vestry members for the upcoming cycle.

Please read this one-page "Proposed Modification and Amendment of Bylaws for Consideration at the March 14,2021 Annual Meeting" in advance of the meeting. These changes have been proposed unanimously by the current Vestry and, according to our by-laws, must be made available to the congregation 30 days before the Annual Meeting.

I hope to see you on March 14 as we enter into another year of mission and ministry together. ~ Patty+

Samaritan Ministry
"Next Step" Breakfast
Please Save the Date:

Samaritan Ministry
"Next Step" Breakfast
with Yamiche Alcindor of PBS NewsHour

Saturday, March 20, 2021
10:00 a.m.
(virtually)

St. Dunstan's has long supported Samaritan Ministry of Greater Washington, who works with individuals who for various reasons need a helping hand to regain their footing in society. It helps them take the "next step" toward becoming self-sufficient members of society, such as preparing for job interviews and obtaining their GED.

This year, Samaritan Ministry is unable to hold its annual gala event at the National Press Club. Instead, it will hold a virtual "Next Step" Breakfast at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 20. The breakfast will be emceed by Yamiche Alcindor of PBS NewHour and will include remarks from SMGW's Executive Director, the Rev. David Wolf, as well as from a Next Step program participant and a volunteer. Attendees at the breakfast will be invited to make an optional financial gift or pledge, as well as to consider offering their time and talent to this important ministry.

Walter Douglas, our Parish Partner Representative to SMGW, will be St. Dunstan's "table captain." He is looking for others to join our virtual table. Please let Walter know if you would like to step up at walterdouglas@gmail.comThere is no charge to attend this online event. SMGW hopes to see six to eight participants from St. Dunstan's on March 20.
