From the Rector
Sunday Worship with St Dunstan's: January 9, 2022 (The First Sunday after the Epiphany)
Dear parishioners and friends of St. Dunstan's:
Thank you to those who joined us on Zoom and Facebook Live yesterday for Sunday morning worship! If you were not able to be with us in "real time," the recording of the service may be accessed above; just click on the video link to be redirected to St. Dunstan's YouTube channel. The text of yesterday's sermon is available here.
Please know that I anticipate resuming in-person services soon, but for now I hope that you will join me in giving thanks that we have the technology to make distance worship possible...We know how to do this! I will continue to be in regular communication with our Wardens and the rest of the Regathering Team to assess our readiness to worship inside the building again. For now, Governor Hogan's 30-day state of emergency is still in effect in Maryland, which suggests to me that we are wise to wait this out a bit longer. As always, I am tremendously grateful for your patience while we figure this out!
If you become sick with COVID (or any other illness, for that matter), please be sure to let me know so that we can pray for you and offer whatever moral and practical support is most appropriate. Please do not assume that I know that you're ill if you or a loved one haven't told me directly. Likewise, do not hesitate to reach out to me if you find yourself struggling emotionally and/or spiritually; please do not, under any circumstances, suffer in silence.
Holding you all in the Light of Christ during this Season of Epiphany,
The Reverend Patricia Phaneuf Alexander, Rector

To date, 45 households have made financial commitments totaling $263,850 for the 2022 calendar year, which leaves us $11,150 short of our $275,000 Stewardship goal. We still very much hope to meet that goal in order to be able to continue to fund our mission and ministries at current staffing levels. If you have not yet pledged your support for 2022, please consider doing so soon, so that our Treasurer and Vestry can set the budget for this year.
To make a pledge online, please click on this link. Alternatively, you can download and print this pledge card and return it to
the Parish Office
If you believe that you have pledged for 2022 and do not see your name listed above, please contact Kim Matthews in the Parish Office. Please also feel free to reach out to Stewardship Co-Chairs
Karen Edwards or Rosi Sweeney with any other questions about pledging at St. Dunstan’s.
COVID Rapid Test Kit Distribution
From Deacon Mary
The International Rescue Committee in Silver Spring is busy resettling up to 575 Afghan refugees in Montgomery and Prince George’s counties. Due to pandemic-related delays in processing employment authorizations and financial assistance, refugees have few ways to provide for themselves when they first arrive. To help give families the power to purchase what they need, please consider buying gift cards through IRC’s Amazon Wish List. Thank you!
Have you served your community lately? Participated in a volunteer effort? Tell us how you’re living your baptismal calling! We’ll include your news in an upcoming newsletter. Send a three-sentence blurb and a photo to Deacon Mary. Thank you for all you’re doing!
If you would like to help Deacon Mary organize monthly Sunday forums on charity, service, advocacy, and justice, please contact her. Share your ideas for topics, too!
