The News from
St. Dunstan's

January 5, 2021
Tuesday

From the Rector

Dear parishioners and friends of St. Dunstan's,

It is with a heavy heart that I share the news that our dear Sister in Christ, Eleanor Neiman, died on December 9, 2020 due to complications following a stroke. She was 90 years old.

Before the COVID shutdown, Eleanor attended worship at St. Dunstan's regularly with other residents from Brighton Gardens of Friendship Heights. I was able to FaceTime with Eleanor many times over the past several months, and without fail she spoke of the kindness and welcome she felt from the congregation. She did not have any immediate family, and this parish had become an important community for her. Unfortunately the staff at the rehab facility did not know about Eleanor's ties to St. Dunstan's, which is why I did not learn of her death until today.

Eleanor will be buried at the Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Silver Spring on Thursday, January 7, at 9 a.m. I plan to attend the service on behalf of the parish.

Thanks be to God for the long life of Eleanor Neiman and for her faithful presence here at St. Dunstan's. She will be missed.

Eternal rest grant your servant Eleanor, O Lord, and may light perpetual shine upon her. May her soul, and the souls of all the departed, rest in peace, and rise in glory.

Sincerely,

The Reverend Patricia Phaneuf Alexander
Rector
