Presiding Bishop's Remarks
on Epiphany
This past Thursday, January 6, Presiding Bishop Michael Curry called upon Christians to "renew [our] relationship with God, revive relationships with each other, and resurrect commitments to shared ideals" on the first anniversary of the attack on the US Capitol. If you would like to listen to his brief (12 minutes) remarks, just click on the button below to be redirected to the recording:

"Star Words"
and Chalking the Door for Epiphany
A couple of years ago we began the tradition of distributing inspirational "Star Words" to the congregation on the Feast of the Epiphany. Just as the magi followed a star to the nearer presence of Christ, we, too, are invited to be guided by our own stars in the year ahead. While we cannot distribute physical stars this year, we still can observe this lovely custom here at St. Dunstan's.
If you would like an Epiphany "Star Word" this year, please email Patty, who will select a word for you and send it along with a special prayer of blessing for 2022.
Another beloved Epiphany tradition is the "Chalking of the Door" to invite God's blessing into your home (or office) for the year ahead. For information about how to chalk your doors, please see this link .
From Deacon Mary
The International Rescue Committee in Silver Spring is busy resettling up to 575 Afghan refugees in Montgomery and Prince George’s counties. Due to pandemic-related delays in processing employment authorizations and financial assistance, refugees have few ways to provide for themselves when they first arrive. To help give families the power to purchase what they need, please consider buying gift cards through IRC’s Amazon Wish List. Thank you!
Have you served your community lately? Participated in a volunteer effort? Tell us how you’re living your baptismal calling! We’ll include your news in an upcoming newsletter. Send a three-sentence blurb and a photo to Deacon Mary. Thank you for all you’re doing!
If you would like to help Deacon Mary organize monthly Sunday forums on charity, service, advocacy, and justice, please contact her. Share your ideas for topics, too!
